The Legion’s History

Magnetar

About 11 years ago a small group of loyal Amarr were formed into the 17th Legion Anoited under the direct authority of Empress Jamyl I as God wished it.
The elite group of capsuleers was ordered to infiltrate deep into Minmatar space, gathering intel and providing logistical suppport for other covert operatives. Sometimes even joining alliances and posing as benevolent contributors. All in the name of the Divine.

The death of Empress Jamyl I nearly six years ago was a sad day for the 17th Legion. Shortly after some of the Legion’s leaders were excommunicated and branded as traitors by the new powers in control of the Amarr Navy.

Fearing for the lives of their members the Legions High Command decided that it was time to go dark. Cast out of the Empire they once served so faithfully, the Legion disappeared into unknown space.

Realising  they could not escape the many eyes of the Imperial intelligence officers on their own, they reached out to contacts they made during their 5 years as covert agents.
Their choice fell on the once infamous Guristas Associates, former pirates now living in wormhole space themselves. Knowing that the Imperial forces would hold no sway over them in the vast reaches of Anoikis. With the help of their new allies they set out and found  a class 4 wolf-rayet system they named “Tartarus”.

The Legion prospered, reaping great rewards from the riches of wormhole space in all its forms. Testing themselves in combat against other capsuleers as well as the denizens occupying their system. The Legion accumulated great wealth, leading to a dispute that resulted in mutiny. Having lost a sizeable part of their strength, they parted ways with The Guristas Associates on friendly terms. The Legion went underground in Minmatar space to reform and rebuild.

A few months later, as the 17th Legion grew in power once more, they started looking for a place to set up camp and expand their operations. Keeping the Minmatar base it was decided to invade a closeby wormhole system. As the inhabitants had long fled the desolate system, the Legion deemed it worthy to establish a beachhead.

With the Legion looking strong, new pilots were trained by veteran instructors in Minmatar space to be sent off into the breach. A few cohorts were trained in the industrial professions to support the Legion’s war machine.  As years went by, the activity in Minmatar space seemed to slow down as Legion priorities shifted. The 17th Legion Anoited were last seen invading a magnetar class system deep within Anoikis … This was 3 years ago.

Then on the 2nd day of the 2nd month a strange portal opened …
New Eden had known these as Abyssal Conduits connected to the Triglavian Invasion.
Only this time it disgorged a group of broken vessels of various make-up, barely active … almost as if flickering in and out of existence.

Then, a beacon lit!
Broadcasting a general distress call in the name of the 17th Legion!
They had suffered unimaginable dread and hardships stuck in deadspace …
Finally the mystery of the Legion had been solved. Though no one truly knows what they went through …

The remnants are now calling themselves the 17th Abyssal Legion …
Mission: rebuild, re-arm, and wreak vengeance on their tormentors …
Now truly without duty or allegiance.

The Legion will rise again!
